A toss of the coin

Tomorrow Québec will have a general elction to the Assemblée Nationale.  As of today, September 3, it is too close to call with over 20% of eligible voters claiming to be undecided as to who they will chose.
Of course it must be admitted that a "none of the above" option would be called for here; still tomorrow I will have to put a cross somewhere on that bulletin.  So I guess I will follow my ancestors advice: "Of two evils, chose the lesser one".  I will thus hold my nose and vote Liberal, Marie-Ève Pelletier, the Liberal candidate,   is a young woman and may bring something new to the grand old tired party.

  1. We must continue to stay involved, even if the winner is not our best choice. I'm afraid though that most of us will just complain and hide until the next election.

  5. We do, Amanda, have several female candidates from most parties involved. One, Pauline Marois, could even be the next Prime Minister if her party comes out on top. Being a separatist, however, would herald a new referendum on the subject with all the divisiveness and bitterness involved in such an exrcize on such a topic as breaking up a Country.
    God save us from her.

  6. Is it not possible in Canada to vote a "blank ballot"? Here, in general elections we can show up at the polls, select no candidate and cast our ballot, to render the statement that X per cent of the voting public is unable to support any candidate in a given race.

  7. Here, those are simply counted as rejected ballots along with those bearing the wrong signs or something written on them. They mean nothing and not counted separately.
