Matter of fact

Last night, we all went to La Crêperie du Vieux Beloeil, in Beloeil of course, for supper.  We went in two cars since our cars are small.  On the way back, Ariane, 6 years and a 1/2, discussed her  3 former cats: one died accidentally and two of old age.  As the discussion evolved it turned to human deaths.
At one point, she told her aunts:"You will also die and when you are both dead, your house will be mine!"

  1. She sure is. However she was reminded that she has an older brother who will share the inheritance with her. She was warned not to spend it in advance.

  2. Ouch!!! Perhaps it is a good thing that I don't have any relatives who can be expected to leave me anything. It saves awkward moments.

  3. Sled, there was nothing awkward about the moment and we all got a big laugh. Ariane's mother, about three years ago, inherited a house in Spain when her parents and her brother died over a period of 4 years. Ariane knows that, so she was only talking from experience.
My celibate daughters have willed everything to their nephew and niece when they die and the kids know it; but nobody is in a hurry to collect and Ariane added that she wishes it to happen as late as possible.

  4. Well, so long as no one was left looking over their shoulder for a toddler assassin, like in the Dune books.

  6. Amanda, you mean multiple countries. Ariane through her mother is part German and French Canadian, my son is part Greek and French Canadian, as I am, and my wife, hence Ariane's grandmother has, at the 10th generation back, Algonquin blood.
As an Algerian Kabyle guest at my son's wedding said of the newly weds: "These children are the United nations."

  7. People have been telling me that since I was Ariane's age, Paul. I just can't stop.

  8. Ah les femmes, les femmes, n'importe l'age. I met Ariane - like the rest of the family - and she may present surprises when she grows up (in a positive sense).
Ciao Paul, thanks for popping up.
